Do you know all levels of performance require good healthy nutrition for fuel before and after your workouts? Pre and post workout meals can provide the needed energy to make even a tough workout enjoyable today and tomorrow.
Depending on your activity, good fuel timing begins 1-3 hours before your workout with a moderate meal that includes carbohydrates, some fat and some protein. You are laying down the energy foundation for your workout. As you approach your work out time, your choices should be lighter and easy to digest. The fuel you choose needs to be light enough to not weigh you down or make you feel sluggish. In the 30 minutes prior and during your workout keep it light – water, a piece of fruit or a workout drink.
After a good training session, your body’s nutrient reserves are depleted and your window of opportunity for the most gain starts immediately. Begin replacing these vital nutrients as soon as possible and at least within the first 30 minutes to 2 hours following your workout.
